Fisher 8590 High‑Performance Butterfly Valve

 

Fisher 8590 is a concentric disc high‑performance butterfly valve for process pipeline throttling and on‑off shutoff service. Size range NPS 3‑24, pressure class CL600 conforming to ASME B16.34. Splined / square / keyed shaft interfaces support manual, pneumatic and electric actuators. Seal and material options cover high pressure, high temperature and sour service conditions.

 

Product Overview

 

This valve targets modulating throttling and tight isolation duties. Body options:

 

  • Lugged (single flange)
  • Lugged with through‑drilled flange holes
  • Double flanged, available on request

 

End connection: ASME B16.5 RF flange standard; RTJ flange optional. Face‑to‑face dimensions comply with MSS SP‑68, API 609, ASME B16.10 and EN 558.

 

Linear flow characteristic. Multiple seal sets:

 

  • Soft seal for clean media, bi‑directional Class VI shutoff
  • Phoenix III fire‑safe seal, Class VI
  • Metal seal / High Pressure seal for high temp, abrasive service, Class IV / VI reverse flow only

 

NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 material packages available for sour liquid & sour gas service.

 

Core Construction & Functional Features

 

Pressure‑Assisted Seal System Pressure‑assisted dynamic seal maintains continuous disc‑to‑seal contact. It delivers rated shutoff performance across full ASME B16.34 pressure drop and allows use of smaller actuators. Flow direction requirement varies by seal type:

Soft Seal, Phoenix III: Bi‑directional shutoff, Phoenix III reverse flow preferred

Metal Seal, High Pressure Seal: Reverse flow installation only

Heavy Duty Body & Anti‑Blowout Shaft CL600 rated one‑piece body. Anti‑blowout shaft design prevents shaft ejection under pressure. Shaft connections:

Splined: Standard NPS 3‑24

Square: NPS 3‑12

Keyed: NPS 14‑24

Optional Low Fugitive Emission Packing ENVIRO‑SEAL live‑loaded packing is an optional upgrade. Combined with precision machined shaft, it limits fugitive emission below 100 ppm for regulated sites. Standard packing: PTFE / graphite.

Corrosion & Sour Service Material Options Body / disc standard: WCC, CF8M. Optional: LCC, CD3MN, M35‑2, CW2M. Trim and fastener alloy options support H₂S service when specified to NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156. Phoenix III seal version meets API 607 fire test requirement.
